The Columbia County Exchange Club News and Events The Columbia County Exchange Club gave our the funds from our 2012 Concert for Kids! Here are the organizations that benefitted from all the hard work, sponsors and great music of the Concert for Kids!
Augusta Urban Ministries provides bicycles and furniture to the homeless of the area to help them get back on their feet and sustain a job, hopefully to get them back into a home soon. They also provide for over 750 families at Christmas that are homeless or in need. As of January 1st, Augusta Urban Ministries will also be preforming Child Advocate Services to Chaperon visitation to families where the children have been taken out of the home and are being re-introduced back into their home. Operation Augusta Cares works with Augusta Churches and Service Organizations to open the WaterPark at the Family Y one day early to the families at Fort Gordon to come and enjoy the park. This is for Military Families and serves especially the families of those who have family members deployed. They have inflatables for the kids, food and help package gift boxes for family members who are deployed. The serve 400-800 people during this event. Camp VIP had 61 kids this past year that are all in Foster Care situations. This Camp gets these kids together to let them know they are not alone and to have fun and work to help with this difficult transition. It is often difficult to transition from a birth family to a foster family, leaving feelings of resentment, anger and guilt. Camp VIP helps kids get through these feelings and on to a productive life. Hope House, Inc. is a residential treatment facility that serves women 18 years and older who suffer from the disease of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Hope House serves three populations of women: homeless single women, pregnant women, and women with children, many who are seeking to regain custody of their children. They work to teach these women to live independently in their own apartment. Columbia County Foundation for Children provides Columbia County kids with financial support, food, clothing, educational and recreational activities. Some of their projects include coordination of a Christmas gift program for children, annual need-based college scholarships and financial assistance for summer school and summer camps. Their assistance helped over 800 kids last year during the Christmas season. They take referrals from Churches, Schools and Columbia County Social Workers.

$1,400 of school supplies to Grovetown Middle and Grovetown Elementary
Schools for Children that were not able to afford school supplies and
backpacks for the beginning of the school year. "We are delighted that children in our community are excited to receive their new backpacks and hope these supplies help promote a great school year". said Jess Evans, CCEC President. The Columbia County Exchange Club is one of the most productive small clubs in the area. Although we are small in number, we participate in, and are sponsors of a huge number of events in the Columbia County area. This past year we were able to give our our time or financial support to over 21organizations and events.
